My husband loves to go to the angling competitions and get fishing tips from the competitors. He is not that competitive but when his brothers are around they always go for fishing trips and the tips help him a lot!

ABOUT US

Cape St Francis Angling Club Started in 1952 with its headquarters situated in Humansdorp.

Our Mission:

  • To foster the spirit of Harmony and good fellowship among all anglers.
  • To regulate the fishing and manner of capturing fish by its members.
  • To assist the Government and Fisheries Department by conforming to their regulations.
  • To popularise the art of angling.

SERVICES

Memberships to the Angling Club

  • Intending members must be duly proposed by a member of the club and seconded by an Executive Member in Writing on the required application form.
  • Juniors under the age of 18 years may be enrolled as members.
  • Members will be eligible for Life Membership at the discretion of the committee and on payment of the sum of R800.00 provided they are over the age of 60 years.  [AGM 2015] 
  • Honory Life Membership is at the discretion of the Committee. [AGM 2015]

Competitions

Rock & Surf Competition Rules:

  • Two rods may be used at any one time by any competitor in a club competition, unless otherwise stated for special competitions. No hand lines may be used at any time. Members infringing this rule may be expelled.
  • No artificial support of any kind for the rod during play will be permitted, save that a rod bucket, harness and hand palm will be allowed and the competitor will have no assistance whatever in hooking or playing the fish, but reasonable assistance will be allowed in gaffing. However, members suffering from disabilities may receive privileges upon application. 
  • No competitor will be allowed to fish in the competition waters during the six hours prior to the commencement of the competition.
  • No shell fish, eels, barbels, tobies or catfish may be weighed in, only fish of not less than 1,0 kg to be weighed in and non-edible fish of 5,0 kg. Out of competitions. 
  • All fish hooked previous to closing time of competition may be weighed in and in the event of two persons hooking and landing the same fish, the weight will not be counted.
  • All fish must be washed free of sand before being weighed on authorised scales, by weight officials if present. Scales to be checked by Committee if not Government assized.
  • Not more than two single hooks or one treble hook may be used.(Except for lures that may be used as purchased).
  • Boundaries will be the Groot River at Oubosrand to the Fish River east of Port Alfred.

Inter-club Events:

  • The team or teams representing the Club will be selected by the Committee.
  • The Captain of an Inter-Club event will be elected by the selection Committee.

Junior Events:

  • Juveniles must apply for membership, but will be admitted as members immediately on receipt of such application, provided their subscription fees are fully paid.
  • A Juvenile will remain as such until attaining the age of 18 years.
  • All Juvenile members will be governed by the rules and regulations governing the senior members in addition to those of the Juveniles.
  • Any regulation governing Juvenile members, who may be in dispute at any time, must be referred to the Club Committee whose decision will be final.
  • All Juvenile members will be entitled to compete for all Club Trophies and Awards competed for in the Adult Section, in addition to the special trophies or competition available for their section.
